Among them there are free software systems that are free and can be used to the user's liking. The Brazilian government adopts, in its projects of incentive to technological education, the operating system Linux Educacional, a Linux distribution. However, it undergoes a process of disuse when arriving in laboratories due to the lack of training of education professionals regarding this system and the pre-established habit of using proprietary systems. This work consists of a joint research that aims to validate this sad reality through applied research, using a questionnaire and bibliographic studies about the use of the system by these professionals. Given this, the lack of knowledge of the subjects with the system in question is perceptible and the governmental attempts to train these professionals is ineffective. Therefore, it is necessary to implement strategies that can reverse this process. Os sistemas operacionais disponíveis no mercado são diversificados em características de interface, ferramentas disponíveis e, consequentemente, preços também diversos. Dentre eles existem os sistemas de software livre que são gratuitos e podem ser utilizados ao gosto do usuário. O governo brasileiro adota, em seus projetos de incentivo à educação tecnológica, o sistema operacional Linux Educacional, uma distribuição Linux. No entanto, este sofre um processo de desuso ao chegar nos laboratórios devido à pouca formação dos profissionais da educação a respeito deste sistema e ao hábito preestabelecido do uso de sistemas proprietários. Este trabalho consiste em uma pesquisa em conjunto que tem o objetivo de validar essa triste realidade por meio de pesquisa aplicada, fazendo uso de questionário e estudos bibliográficos acerca do uso do sistema por esses profissionais. Diante disso, é perceptível a falta de conhecimento dos sujeitos com o sistema em questão e as tentativas governamentais de capacitar esses profissionais se mostra ineficaz.
