In the metropolitan region of Belém do Pará, masonry with ceramic blocks, coated with
mortar and finished with paint or ceramic elements, is the main construction method
for external finishes in buildings. However, there is a notable construction project that
uses structural ceramic blocks: the "Residencial Liberdade," which is the focus of this
study. The objective of this work is to evaluate the application of structural masonry
with ceramic blocks and a hydrophobic agent in a low-income housing complex, aiming
to reduce time and costs. Quantitative and comparative surveys were conducted based
on budget spreadsheets and unit compositions of two projects: the original one, with
structural ceramic blocks and hydrophobic agent, and the conventional one, with nonstructural masonry, reinforced concrete structure, plaster, and paint. According to the
responsible company, the original project is economically more viable, with a cost
savings of 38,81% and an increase in expenses of only 0,61% compared to the
conventional project. Considering the property's maintenance, an additional economic
analysis was conducted to assess whether the hydrophobic coating actually has lower
costs. The results showed that the application of the hydrophobic agent requires a
significant investment, both in overall terms and individually. |
