This Course Completion Work (TCC) deals with the relationship between numbers
and the representation of symbols from a historical context with the contribution of
several authors who deal with the proposed theme, it is motivated by the question:
Where did the symbols that use in mathematical language? The aforementioned
bibliographic study aimed to survey historical facts that deal with the emergence of
mathematical symbols for the understanding of the language that is expressed
through these symbols. To do so, we set out to carry out a bibliographic survey on
the History of Mathematics and the origin of mathematical symbols; and, to
understand the relationship of these symbols with the mathematical language. This is
a study with a qualitative approach, developed from bibliographic interpretations that
served as an enriching source for this research. Printed and digital material were
used as instruments for this study. The results show that Mathematics has its own
language through symbology and numbers, which has historically undergone
modifications according to each context and human groups. The perspective with this
study is to show how important symbols are for the world, because through their
applications one can find conclusive answers in situations found in Mathematics. |
