The research initially discussed aspects related to representation/description and its use in photographic supports. Subsequently, based on the analysis of a photograph taken from each collection, the description elements of the General International Standard for Archival Description – ISAD(G) were related to those of the selected repositories, identifying the context and structure of representation. Thus, it was verified that the repositories express significant similarities in relation to ISAD(G), even if their representation/description was not elaborated using the standard, therefore, “Prokudin-Gorskii Collection” presenting greater approximations with ISAD(G), with 6 areas and 14 elements interrelated with their detailing content. The research also identified the possibility of using data collected in national repositories related to photographic description. A presente pesquisa analisou a relação das normas arquivísticas em repositórios digitais custodiados na Biblioteca do Congresso norte-americano, no acervo “Prokudin-Gorskii Collection” e da Universidade de Yale no acervo “Romanov Collection”, ambos álbuns fotográficos relacionados a Rússia czarista entre os anos de 1890 e 1915, respectivamente ligados ao fotógrafo russo Prokudin-Gorskii e ao Czar Nicolau II. A pesquisa inicialmente discutiu aspectos ligados à representação/descrição e sua utilização nos suportes fotográficos. Posteriormente, a partir da análise de uma fotografia retirada de cada coleção, foram relacionados os elementos de descrição da Norma Geral Internacional de Descrição Arquivística– ISAD(G) com os dos repositórios selecionados, identificando o contexto e a estrutura de representação. Assim, verificou-se que os repositórios expressam similaridades significativas em relação a ISAD(G), mesmo que sua representação/descrição não foi elaborada com a utilização da norma, logo, “Prokudin-Gorskii Collection” apresentando maiores aproximações com a ISAD(G), com 6 áreas e 14 elementos inter-relacionados com seu teor de detalhamento.
