The methodology used consisted of bibliographical and documental research and a case study through which a historicalarchival analysis of the formation, organization and uses of the CPT archive was carried out with the purpose of elaborating research instruments for systematization, dissemination and preservation of its collection. As a result of this work, it was possible to identify the challenges related to the treatment of documents and contribute to the diagnosis and rearrangement of documents related to the issue of slave labor. It is concluded that the CPT archive constitutes an important documentary heritage for academic research and preservation of the memory of peasant social movements in the Amazon. For this, it is fundamental to treat this documentation in order to promote a better organization through archival techniques, thus promoting the preservation and dissemination of these documents to society. O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar a experiência desenvolvida como bolsista de iniciação científica junto ao arquivo da Comissão Pastoral da Terra (CPT) de Belém, instituição que ao longo de sua trajetória produziu um acervo significativo registrando as lutas camponesas pela terra. A metodologia utilizada consistiu em pesquisa bibliográfica, documental e estudo de caso por meio dos quais se efetuou uma análise histórico-arquivística da formação, organização e os usos do arquivo da CPT com a finalidade de elaboração de instrumentos de pesquisa para sistematização,difusão e preservação do seu acervo. Como resultado deste trabalho foi possível identificar os desafios voltados ao tratamento documental e contribuir com o diagnóstico e rearranjo dos documentos relacionados ao tema do trabalho escravo. Conclui-se que o arquivo da CPT constitui um importante patrimônio documental para pesquisas acadêmicas e preservação da memória dos movimentos sociais camponeses na Amazônia.
