Specifically, to analyze the time and duration of the silent pause in the oral discourse of japanese descendants (sanseis) living in the municipality of Tomé-Açu, Pará; to compare time and number of pauses in the oral discourse of young Japanese/Portuguese bilinguals and natives of the Portuguese language. It is assumed that young Japanese/Portuguese bilinguals would take longer and present more pauses than native Portuguese speakers. Hume (2008 apud SOARES, 2014) says that the more frequent the access to information acquired from L2, the shorter the pause time for the discursive planning, which would lead to fluent speaking. The material analyzed was composed of spontaneous interviews of the participants that narrated events lived by them. Thus, four students from elementary and middle school, two Japanese/Portuguese bilinguals and two native Portuguese speakers participated in this study. The data showed that the Japanese/Portuguese bilingual participants presented more short, long and extensive pauses than the natives of the Portuguese Language. Este estudo tem como objetivo principal investigar o fenômeno prosódico relacionado à fluência no planejamento discursivo de falantes bilíngues. Especificamente, analisar a quantidade e duração da pausa silenciosa no discurso oral dos descendentes de japonês (sanseis) residentes no município de Tomé-Açu, Pará; comparar tempo e número de pausas no discurso oral dos jovens bilíngues Japonês/Português e nativos da Língua Portuguesa. Pressupõe-se que os jovens bilíngues Japonês/Português levariam mais tempo e apresentariam maior quantidade de pausas silenciosas do que os jovens nativos da Língua Portuguesa. Hume (2008 apud SOARES, 2014) diz que quanto mais frequente é o acesso às informações adquiridas da L2, menor será o tempo de pausa para o planejamento discursivo, o que levaria à fala fluente. O material analisado foi composto de entrevistas espontâneas dos participantes que narraram eventos vividos por eles. Assim sendo, participaram deste estudo quatro estudantes do Ensino Fundamental e Médio, sendo dois bilíngues Japonês/Português e dois nativos da Língua Portuguesa.
