The study problematizes the consequent adaptive actions that modify/modified the relationships previously established by riverine people with nature, geographic space, the forms of production and social relations and school life, influenced by then by the popularization of motorized propulsion on a large scale that ended up for establishing the engine and parts stores, creating manpower in certain shipyards, gas stations as a mandatory crossing point in the new network. To carry out this work, a survey with employees was used. of a riverside school with the application of semi-structured interviews, which enabled its development. The study allows us to conclude that if established new relationships of students, teachers and managers, with the environment and culture from the introduction of this sociotechnical artifact in the riverside community. O presente estudo, realizado mediante observação participante, tem como objetivo descrever uma rede sociotécnica estabelecida a partir da entrada na região das ilhas de Abaetetuba (município ribeirinho localizado no nordeste paraense) de motores de combustão interna portáteis, de pequenas dimensões e baixos custos, utilizados com rabetas longas, na propulsão de vários tipos de embarcações e seus efeitos sobre o cotidiano de uma escola ribeirinha da Amazônia. O estudo problematiza as consequentes ações adaptativas que modificam/modificaram as relações anteriormente estabelecidas pelos ribeirinhos com a natureza, o espaço geográfico, as formas de produção e de relações sociais e a vida escolar, influenciadas a partir de então pela popularização da propulsão motorizada em larga escala que acabou por estabelecer as lojas de motores e peças, criação de mão de obra em certos estaleiros, postos de combustíveis como ponto de passagem obrigatória na nova rede. Para a realização desse trabalho, foi utilizada a pesquisa com os funcionários de uma escola ribeirinha com aplicação de entrevistas semiestruturadas, o que possibilitou no desenvolvimento do mesmo.
