Mobile communications offer the possibility of a constant contact between users, providing easiness and conveniences such as quick access to information. For some time now, the mobile carriers and television broadcasters have been updating their systems, providing video conferencing services, internet and digital TV. The digital TV system emerges as the evolution of analog TV, mainly allowing a significant improvement in the quality of video and audio transmissions, strengthening concepts such as interactivity with viewers, signal reception in mobile devices and the possibility to broadcast several programs through the same channel. For this, it is imperative to solve one of the challenges of implementing digital broadcast television systems, which is determining whether the digital signal coverage will have the same range as it would have for an analog broadcasting, also accounting the cost effectiveness when balancing quality and signal strength. Therefore, by measuring campaigns in the UHF range (Ultra High Frequency) in the metropolitan region of Belém, it was collected a set of data which allowed the evaluation of methods of forecasting the average propagation loss in regions with Amazonic features, in which the study of loss involves an environment characterized by tropical climate and wooded suburban area with the presence of rivers. In this work we present a propagation average loss analysis from the measurements and the comparison with the forecasts provided for the same paths after implementing the Okumura-Hata model, ITU-R P.1546 and Free Space. It was our intention to describe the signal behavior and to verify the existence of appropriate models to characterize it. Finally, the results of simulations to obtain the loss and field strength profiles based on the experimental results are presented. O setor de telecomunicações e radiodifusão vem passando por grandes transformações, devido ao aumento da busca por acesso a serviços digitais de transmissão de dados, multimídia, especialmente, por meio de sistemas móveis. As comunicações móveis proporcionam a possibilidade de um contato constante entre os usuários, disponibilizando facilidades e comodidades como o acesso rápido a informações. Há algum tempo, as operadoras de telefonia móvel e emissoras de televisão vêm atualizando seus sistemas, proporcionando serviços de vídeo conferência, internet e TV digital. O sistema de TV digital surge como a evolução da TV analógica, permitindo principalmente uma melhoria significativa na qualidade das transmissões de vídeo e áudio, fortalecendo conceitos como: interatividade com os telespectadores, recepção do sinal em aparelhos móveis e a possibilidade de transmitir diversos programas em um mesmo canal. Para isso, é necessário solucionar um dos desafios da implementação do sistema de TV digital, o qual é determinar se a cobertura do sinal digital terá o mesmo alcance que na difusão analógica. Portanto, através de campanhas de medições na faixa de UHF (Ultra High Frequency) na cidade metropolitana de Belém e região, foi levantado um conjunto de dados que permitiu a avaliação de métodos de previsão da perda média de propagação em regiões com características amazônicas, no qual o estudo da perda envolve um ambiente caracterizado pelo clima tropical e suburbano densamente arborizado com a presença de rios. Neste trabalho apresenta-se uma análise da perda média de propagação a partir das medições realizadas e a comparação com as previsões fornecidas para os mesmos percursos pela implementação dos modelos Okumura-Hata, ITU-R P.1546 e Espaço Livre, pretendendo-se descrever o comportamento do sinal, assim como verificar a existência de modelos adequados para caracterizá-lo.
