This study we contextualize the activities of food production with focus in the biotechnology techniques as the use of Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) and plants breeding aspects. From bibliographical, we describing as it does the production of GMOs in the Brazil and emphasizing its importance to the environment, the potential benefits and potential dangers they can cause to the health. Another important application of these organisms is the production of genetically modified plant able to directly help decrease environmental impacts. It may benefit by developing plants that enable adaptation in dry climates, contributing to economic growth and minimizing the damage caused to farmers due to unfavorable climatic conditions for the cultivation of certain species. In Brazil, since the early1980suntiltoday, the research in the biotechnology is developed mainly by Empresa Brasileira de pesquisa Agropecuária (Embrapa) and currently Brazil is the second largest producer in the world of genetically modified organisms to food applicability behind only United States of America (USA). Since there is no planting of GMOs in the municipality of Abaetetuba, we directed this research to describe the activity in the biotech seed planting selected acai and cupuaçu. We studied a period of 2years comparing açaizeiro and cupuaçuzeiro originated from selected seed planting with other native seeds of these same species located in the PA153 km3 (Colonia Nova)- Abaetetuba/Pa. Our results confirm that plants originating from selected seeds had faster development relative to native plants. The techniques of soil preparation, the spacing between the seedlings, the existence of leguminous plantain the co-planting with açaí/cupuaçu and the introduction of organic fertilizers were the determining factors for the growth of these selected seeds.
