Resumo:
This work investigated the effects that copper (Cu) plating causes on aluminum wires (Al-1350) through the electrolysis process. These wires are used in the manufacture of cables to be sold in electrical energy transmission and distribution lines. The aim of carrying out this work is to use this process to reduce the electrical resistance of the Al alloy and consequently increase the electrical conductivity of the material. Using the electrophoretic exposure process with a solution of copper sulfate dissolved in water, as an electrolytic solution, under a current that varies between 1(A) and 1.5 (A) and a fixed voltage of 1 V, we adapt parameters that best suit the increasing of conductivity in the material. The scanning electron microscopy technique was used to carry out the morphological characterization of the material, and electrical resistance measurements were used to verify the efficiency of electrodeposition on the conductivity of the wire. The results show that there was a decrease in electrical resistance of approximately 7% compared to the standard aluminum conductor. From these results, it can be said that this electrodeposition process can become a promising tool in advancing the search for nanostructured electrical conductors that make it possible to increase the quality of high voltage cables.
