Resumo:
The work addresses how the discovery of the nucleus of the atom took place and its implications within the context of nuclear physics, its nuclear properties and radioactive decay involving alpha, beta and gamma. Addressing important aspects such as the benefits and applications in nuclear medicine and radioactive isotopes, how they can be used as tracers in the diagnosis of nodules and the use of radiotherapy as a thyroid treatment. The work deals with the importance that the study of the atomic nucleus plays in science, especially in Nuclear Physics, from where we can obtain important applications in the field of nuclear medicine. The objective of this work is to study one of the applications of radioactive decay of Nuclear Physics in Nuclear Medicine, especially in the Thyroid gland. We conclude by showing the importance of radioactive decay in the study of nuclear medicine, an area of Biological Science and Physics that has evolved a lot in recent years, treating and saving many lives.
