The present work proposes an analysis of how the right to freedom of conscience is understood/carried out in the Prof. Ernestina Pereira Maia State High School, located in the municipality of Moju, based on law 13.796/19, which asserts the right to religious custody of students in school institutions. To this end, interviews and questionnaires were used with the managers, professors and students of this institution, aiming at a better understanding of how this right is realized in this teaching and learning space. Thus, the present research focuses on the school space and seeks to provide a better understanding of the fulfillment of Law No. 13,796/19 and its implementation in schools in view of an education focused on the rights of the student as the excuse of conscience, thus expanding the debate on the subject and raising timely reflections on tolerance and respect in these educational spaces.
