Resumo:
This study is the result of the Institutional Program of Teaching Initiation Grants (PIBID) of the Federal University of Pará/UFPA-Bragança, which is linked to the Bachelor's Degree in Letters - Portuguese Language and Libras. This research aims to discuss the influence of Oralism in the teaching and learning process of deaf students, and to analyze the impacts on their linguistic development. According to Skliar (2013), Oralism "is a set of representations of listeners, from which the deaf person is forced to look at himself and narrate himself as if he were a listener". Therefore, this approach, when applied in the school institution, directly interferes in the development of the individual. Considering that school is a broad space for interactions, the research was designed and developed based on the observation of deaf students at E.E.E.F.M Profª Yolanda Chaves, located in the city of Bragança-PA, as well as in the inclusion laboratory of the Federal University of Pará (PA). The methodology applied was through field research and bibliographical research, therefore, we started from analyses and readings of authors such as Skliar (2013), Quadros (2006), Perlin (2013), among others who discuss the subject. Therefore, through this study we observed the linguistic development of deaf students and perceived the oralist interference in their learning. Thus, this research contributes not only to issues related to teaching and learning, but also to a better understanding of the linguistic and cultural development of deaf students with regard to the educational space.
