This study carries out a bibliographic survey aiming to achieve its principal scope, namely: an examination of how the “Aesthetics of violence” is represented in the pages of contemporary Brazilian fiction. In other words, how the various form the urban barbarisms arise as aesthetics forms in national literature, a thematic that was spread in our Literature, mainly, from the 1970’s onwards with the short stories of Rubem Fonseca (1925-2020). For this research, a number of authors were used, such as: Hobsbawm, Steiner, among others. In the study of the cited romances, it was concluded that, by means of the “Aesthetics of violence” writers from the most different places of country inscribed Literature into the debate about sociocultural, political and economic fractures that afflicted, especially, the common man in the second half of the 20th century and in the first decades of the 21st century, with the leaden cosmopolitanism of violence. O presente artigo propõe um estudo comparativo entre os romances O Cheiro do Ralo (2002) e Pssica (2015) das lavras de Lourenço Mutarelli e de Edyr Augusto Proença, respectivamente, nos quais ambos os autores contemporâneos glosam, em suas narrativas, acerca das diversas formas de violências, sejam essas físicas e/ou psicológicas. Este estudo realiza um levantamento bibliográfico com o intuito de atingir o seu principal escopo, a saber: um exame de como a “Estética da violência” é representada nas páginas da ficção contemporânea brasileira, isto é, como as diversas formas de barbárie urbanas surgem estetizadas na literatura nacional, temática que se espraiou em nossas Letras principalmente a partir da década de 1970 com os contos de Rubem Fonseca (1925-2020). Para essa pesquisa, lançou-se mão de autores diversos, tais como: Hobsbawm e Steiner, dentre outros.
