Resumo:
This paper presents a new model of electrical equipment used to perform electrical measurements of current without the need for use of transformer-based instruments Electromagnetic Induction Law of Faraday. Faced with this new possibility of measuring, came the proposal of Optical Current Transformer as an alternative for reading currents in electric power systems, through the use of magnetic materials with optical properties to perform its purpose. So will we intend to describe the operating principles of Inductive Power Transformer, the Wave Properties of Light, the Optical Activity and the Faraday Effect, in addition to Optical Current Transformer. To carry out the comparative analysis of equipment and technologies, there was a real case study in that there will be both in steady state as transient state, both devices answer. The results and the implementation feasibility, as well as suggestions for future work are discussed at the end of this work.
