Resumo:
This work aims to discuss the presence of Dutch disease in Brazil, for reason of the abundance of the country's natural resources, talking about more specifically of the impact of the discovery of the Pre-Salt and the intense exploration of Iron Ore in Pará, both products characterized as important commodities for the national economy. In this way, what is being discussed is the possibility of low value-added products to cause deindustrialization and an exchange rate appreciation in Brazil, as well as other negative consequences for a national economy. the currency appreciation and deindustrialization are indicators of the Dutch disease in an economy. The impacts caused by the production of iron ore are also discussed, analyzing at regional level the social and environmental impact caused by its activity in the exploration area.
