It is based on a bibliographical and exploratory research about informational behavior through the behavioral models proposed by scholars (Wilson, 2000) and Choo (2006), as well as on the auditory processing and the disturbance that occurs and which compromises learning and Quality of life of children, youth and adults. The research data were collected at the Milton Pereira de Melo Charitable Association, through a questionnaire to the participants and were evaluated based on a qualitative approach, seeking to understand the parents' behavior on the needs and the use of information. The results indicate that the informational needs evidenced are still very much in force and far from being totally remedied, even the parents having acquired knowledge about DPAC, there are still many doubts that need to be clarified in order to guarantee a better quality of life for the children. Their searches for information are influenced by factors that are at their fingertips, such as using the internet and consulting professionals who care for their children. It is concluded that the results obtained by the research were satisfactory, since the DPAC theme is still little publicized in society in general, collaborating so that the parents have great concern for the future of their children. Estudo sobre o comportamento informacional de pais de crianças com Distúrbio de Processamento Auditivo Central (DPAC), com o objetivo de analisar suas necessidades e busca de informação sobre DPAC, antes do diagnóstico e o que sabem hoje, quais suas necessidades informacionais e como buscam se informar. Parte-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica e exploratória, acerca do comportamento informacional mediante os modelos comportamentais propostos por estudiosos como Wilson (2000) e Choo (2006), bem como sobre o processamento auditivo e o distúrbio que ocorre e que compromete o aprendizado e a qualidade de vida de crianças, jovens e adultos. Os dados da pesquisa foram coletados na Associação Beneficente Milton Pereira de Melo, por meio de aplicação de questionário aos participantes e foram avaliados a partir de uma abordagem qualitativa, buscando entender o comportamento dos pais sobre as necessidades e o uso de informação. Os resultados indicam que as necessidades informacionais evidenciadas ainda são bastante vigentes e longe de serem totalmente sanadas, mesmo os pais tendo adquirido conhecimento a respeito do DPAC, ainda persistem muitas dúvidas que necessitam ser esclarecidas para que possam garantir melhor qualidade de vida ao filhos. Suas buscas por informações são influenciadas por fatores que estão ao seu alcance, como o uso da internet e consulta a profissionais que atendem seus filhos.
