In this direction, this work has as its basic objective to characterize the distribution of FNO credits, in the period from 2012 to 2018, in order to ascertain whether the FNO contributed significantly to the development of the Northern Region. Specifically, the problem raised in the study originated from the following question: Has the FNO really been an important credit line for the region's development process? The methodology was quantitative qualitative research, descriptive and through secondary data (database, reports and bibliographies specialized in the theme Regional Development and Regional Development Policies. The results show that the financing offered by the FNO positively impacts the economy of the resource-receiving States. The Fund's credits favor the increase in employment, income and production in the regions where the projects financed are carried out, as well as in other regions with which economic flows of partnerships are established. A Criação do Fundo Constitucional de Financiamento do Norte – FNO, administrado pelo Banco da Amazônia, tem servido como uma ferramenta essencial para o alcance do objetivo de minimizar as distribuições desiguais de crédito historicamente mais concentradas nas regiões Sul e Sudeste. Nessa direção, este trabalho tem como objetivo básico caracterizar a distribuição dos créditos do FNO, no período de 2012 a 2018, com o intuito de averiguar se o FNO contribuiu de forma significativa para o desenvolvimento da Região Norte. Especificamente, o problema levantado no estudo originou-se do seguinte questionamento: O FNO tem sido de fato uma linha de crédito importante para o processo de desenvolvimento da região? A metodologia foi a pesquisa quanti-qualitativa, do tipo descritiva e através de dados secundários (banco de dados, relatórios e bibliografias especializadas no tema Desenvolvimento Regional e Políticas de Desenvolvimento Regional). Os resultados mostram que os financiamentos oferecidos pelo FNO impactam de forma positiva na economia dos Estados receptores dos recursos. Os créditos do Fundo favorecem a elevação de emprego, renda e produção nas regiões onde se efetivam os empreendimentos financiados, bem como em outras regiões com as quais são estabelecidos fluxos econômicos de parcerias.
