Wireless Local Area Network technology, known as WLAN, allows users to establish
wireless connections in a local area. Its main characteristic is the cost-benefit
advantage, as it is easy to install and has a lower cost. WLANs have the same
functionality as LANs (wired networks), however, wireless networks eliminate the need
for cables and other networking equipment. Among the devices used in wireless
networks are desktop computers, portable computers, personal digital assistants
(PDAs), pagers and cell phones, among others. These mobile devices allow a series
