According to Marin (2009), structured cabling is a system that involves cables and connection hardware (according to standards), capable of meeting the telecommunications and IT needs of users of commercial buildings. Due to the need for an increasingly flexible, simplified and standardized system. In 1985, the EIA (Electronics Industries Alliance) and the TIA (Telecomunications Industry Association) formed a technical committee to develop a set of rules and standards for telecommunications cabling in commercial buildings. This work is about a case study of a structured cabling system already implemented in a retail company in the city of Manaus. The study was based on the standard ABNT 14565: 2019, in order to verify whether the system met the guidelines proposed in the standard. In order to make this work possible, the following methodology was addressed: bibliographical review of technical standards, field research and evaluation of researched information.
In this context, after the on-site survey and with the information obtained, a diagram was developed with all the hardware located in the Equipment Room; the Telecommunication Sockets were identified, quantified and mapped in blueprints, as well as the functioning of each one was verified. Thus, it was concluded that there are some aspects in the structured cabling system that are not in accordance with the standard in question.
