Resumo:
This study presents a comparative analysis of two widely used methods for waterproofing slabs: asphalt membranes and liquid rubber. The research evaluated criteria such as ease of application, durability, cost, and environmental impact, considering a realistic scenario involving a 263.07 m2 area. The results showed that liquid rubber offers greater practicality and cost-effectiveness, being approximately 32% cheaper than asphalt membranes. However, asphalt membranes exhibited greater durability, estimated between 15 and 20 years, compared to 10 to 15 years for liquid rubber. Regarding environmental impact, both materials present challenges, such as low biodegradability and risks associated with improper disposal, requiring responsible practices to mitigate negative effects. This study contributes to more informed decisions in the construction sector, highlighting the benefits and limitations of each material for different project contexts.
