Resumo:
We know that the aluminum presented in its pure state has weak mechanical properties such as hardness and tensile strength, preventing its use in engineering in this way. To obtain an improvement in properties, it is used in the form of an alloy. Aluminum alloys aim to improve their properties and are formed with the addition of other materials, the so-called alloying elements. The alloy used in this work is the 6061, an alloy that has as main alloying elements silicon and magnesium and the mechanical property to be improved is its hardness. The main way to increase the hardness of an aluminum alloy is called precipitation hardening, a process that is divided into three stages: solubilization, quenching and aging (which can occur naturally or artificially). Different temperatures and aging times result in different hardness results and the objective of this work is to evaluate some temperatures and aging times, determining which causes a greater increase of hardness.
