The mysterious Amazon is built from travel reports and expectations of
European chroniclers and naturalists since the 16th century. In the second half of the 19th century,
Italian Count Ermanno Stradelli is interested in indigenous peoples and their cultures,
unlike the other travelers who preceded him, whose main concern was the
Amazonian flora and fauna. In the 43 years of Amazonia, Stradelli dedicated himself to the study and
registration of indigenous cultures, making a great contribution to the knowledge of the region. although
of his relevance, he and his work are little known. Information is scarce and is
scattered. This survey brought up some of the Italian Count's travel records and, with the
support of the fundamentals of the technique of understanding, he identified how his work allows to see and
understand the Amazon. After all, know what the Amazon is built by Stradelli. Is
