Resumo:
Oil is a fossil fuel that, although known from the beginning of human civilization, only in recent years has it increased its rate of exploitation. Even though oil is a big business for the world because it has enormous energy potential and has many uses and applications, it is also one of the worst sources of pollution, causing undesirable and worrisome effects on the quality of life and the marine ecosystem. environment and society and socio-economic activities in the affected territories. Concern about risks and maritime safety is growing both internationally and nationally, especially with the discovery of the pre-salt layer in Brazilian maritime areas. Therefore, it is important to note the importance of environmental regulations regarding the oil transportation sector by oil tankers and effective response methods if followed correctly. In the observed circumstances of the last oil spill accidents in the waters, this paper presents the impacts caused by these spills and the control of different risks that can be monitored and managed by norms and safety analyzes.
