As a result of anthropic actions over the last decades, water resources have been degraded, especially in water courses near urban areas. In view of this premise, the objective of this study was to analyze the water quality of the WC stream located in the city center of Humaitá - AM and to apply the calculation to determine the water quality index (IQA) adapted by the State Environmental Company of São Paulo (CETESB), and to compare the quality parameters with those established by Resolution no. 357/2005 of the National Environmental Council (CONAMA). The work methodology consisted in the realization of five collection points in two periods along the Igarapé, contemplating hydrological variations (in full water period corresponding to the month of April 2019, and another period of low water corresponding to the month of June, 2019 ), and physical, chemical and biological analyzes were performed on the collected water samples. The calculation of the Water Quality Index adapted by the Companhia de Tecnologia de Saneamento Ambiental de São Paulo (CETESB) with the respective water quality curves and ranges was carried out in order to evaluate the water quality of the stream. The main changes in the water quality index were observed in the first points that are located in the urban area. The IQA values proposed by CETESB represented well the water quality of the igarapé studied in urban areas with bad classification, for the first point and, acceptable for the others. The results obtained allowed to observe the frequent changes in the quality of the water of the bathroom igarapé during the periods of full and dry.
