As a methodology, the descriptive-exploratory approach with intervention was chosen, that is, it is vital to use questionnaires with open and closed questions and regencies. In the first questionnaire one can verify the level of the class with respect to the concept of function and from it, to govern the way of the approach in room. With the second questionnaire, after the intervention in the classroom with the regencies, one can verify the degree of comprehension of the concepts approached in the research, as well as the acceptance of the method used to study the geometric interpretation of the quadratic function, different from the method, usually used at this stage of academic life. Therefore, with the obtained results, we advocate that this method, besides being powerful in the geometric interpretation, was totally accepted by the group that participated in the action employed by this research. A matemática é uma ciência ampla em conceitos fundamentais que embasam teorias capazes, por exemplo, de gerar inovações tecnológicas para benefício e evolução da sociedade. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo, compreender como o conhecimento intuitivo de derivadas pode contribuir na interpretação geométrica da função quadrática no ensino médio. Como metodologia, optou-se pela abordagem descritivo-exploratória com intervenção, isto é, é vital lançar mão da aplicação de questionários com questões abertas e fechadas e regências. No primeiro questionário pode-se verificar o nível da turma com respeito ao conceito de função e a partir dele, regrar a maneira da abordagem em sala. Com o segundo questionário, após a intervenção em sala de aula com as regências, pode-se constatar o grau de compreensão dos conceitos abordados na pesquisa, bem como a aceitação do método utilizado para estudar a interpretação geométrica da função quadrática, distinto do método, geralmente, usado nesta etapa da vida acadêmica.
