Resumo:
In the Amazon region there are fruit species with agronomic potential that are highly known around the world, such as açaí, cocoa, cupuaçu, Brazil nuts, among others. There are also other fruit varieties that are known only regionally, their economic potential being little explored, or even were never properly researched, one of the examples is the CUPUÍ which is a fruit species native to the Amazon, belonging to the Malvaceae family . It can be found in terra firme forest and rarely reach 20 meters in height. This research aimed to approach basic concepts of biochemistry from the chemical composition of Cupuí (Theobroma subincanum Mart.) and its by-product (Cupuillate) with students of Youth and Adult Education - EJA in the interior of Amazonas. The contextualization of daily life with chemical and social themes is evidenced by the interest aroused in young people and adults, especially when dealing with subjects that have a direct and/or indirect connection with their lives. The agricultural and economic aspects of cupuí using the thematic workshop can be used to generate a new teaching proposal addressing concepts of biochemistry.
