It discusses research data management, digital curation and librarians' skills to act in
this context. The research had as general objective to verify the degree of importance
and level of competence for the performance of the librarian in the management of
research data. As specific objectives, the following were established: a) to characterize
the stages of research data management and skills necessary for the librarian's
performance; b) identify the degree of importance and competence level in the
perception of librarians in the North Network of Repositories and c) present an
overview of the importance and competences of librarians regarding their performance
in research data management. It was a qualitative and quantitative research,
exploratory and descriptive, through bibliographical and field research. As a data
collection instrument, the electronic questionnaire applied to the research subjects was
used: librarians from the North Repository Network. It showed the importance and the
existence of the level of competence about the librarian's capabilities in the
management of research data, despite not being carried out in practice in its entirety.
At the end, new lines of research are suggested for those coming from this, using the
same data collection instrument.
