This work was carried out from conceptual information combined with interviews with entrepreneurs working in micro and small companies, which made it possible to better understand the positioning of this category in the national scenario, as well as the importance of the entrepreneur in this context. Recently, entrepreneurship or entrepreneurship has gained strength in the world and especially in Brazil, despite being considered by some as a fad. The study aimed to demonstrate the importance of the entrepreneur of micro and small companies for the development of the municipality of São Paulo de Olivença. There is then the potential generation of wealth, employment and income largely wasted due to the lack of infrastructure and institutional support. Thus, their needs and some possibilities were characterized so that entrepreneurial activities can be developed with less risk. For this to happen, entrepreneurs need access to credit. However, this is not enough, and there is a need mainly for support and follow-up, as the inexperience in relation to the branches of activity proved to be significant.
