INTRODUCTION: Low back pain or low back pain stands out as the main complaint of pain in the spine region. It is estimated that the population will have at least one episode of low back pain during their lifetime, which may be moderate or severe in the lower spine. It may or may not become chronic, including degenerative inflammatory diseases of the intervertebral discs, congenital defects, muscular and neoplastic weakness that can affect the lumbar spine. OBJECTIVE: GENERAL OBJECTIVE; to identify the prevalence of low back pain in employees of the Regional Hospital of Coari. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE; to compare which sector of the Coari regional hospital employees are most affected by low back pain. To compare low back pain according to sociodemographic data: gender, function and work sector. Correlate the degree of low back pain according to the level of function and disability. Compare the level of function according to sociodemographic data: gender, function and sector of work. METHODOLOGY: This is a prospective cross-sectional observational study on the prevalence of low back pain in civil servants working at the Regional Hospital of Coari, in the municipality of Coari located in the middle Solimões region of the State of Amazonas, Inclusion criteria: all employees working day and night shifts, over 18 years of age. A form containing a sociodemographic questionnaire will be applied through the Google Forms platform, about the employee's work and two standardized and validated instruments for Portuguese: the Oswestry Disability Index and the StartBack Screening Tool. RESULT: A total of 75 HRC employees answered the questionnaire, most of the respondents being technical professionals (n=37), nurses (n=10), receptionists (n=5), with 10 self-declared as another type of professional who are not health professionals. Among physiotherapists, physicians, biochemists and pharmacists, only one individual from each of these professions participated in the research. CONCLUSION: In the present study on low back pain in employees, the highest prevalence of low back pain occurred in employees who work in the nursing area. Individuals who work 20 hours a week have a better prognosis than those who work 40 hours or more.
