Resumo:
The objective of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of virtual reality on balance in children with Down Syndrome attended at the Pestallozi Association in the municipality of Coari-AM. This is a randomized controlled clinical trial study. The study consisted of 6 children with DS between the age group of 8 to 17 years old, in the study they were divided into two groups (Experimental Group and Control Group). Both groups were assessed using the Pediatric Balance Scale (EEP). The experimental group sessions of virtual duration, two reality training using the 100 minutes of maximum duration, twice a week a period of months. After this period, both groups were evaluated again with the instruments described. Data analysis was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk test, as well as the homogeneity test using the Levene test. Differences were verified using the ANOVA test and the Tukey test, with a significance level of p 0.05. Data were analyzed by Jamovi Training, (version 2.2.5 for Windows). It was found that children who underwent virtual reality had a better level of significance compared to children who did not undergo VR. The study proved to be efficient in the balance in children with DS, constituting an important instrument for treatment in physical therapy.
