Background: Pelvic floor disorders (PAD) affect women in the puerperium with a certain frequency, causing a reduction in strength in the pelvic muscles, one of the most significant. Aim: Summarize the characteristics of studies on muscle strengthening exercises on muscle function in postpartum women with PAD. Methods: This is a narrative review of the literature. Studies carried out in postpartum women with PAD, who performed muscle strengthening exercises and which measured muscle function, in any language, were considered. CINAHL, EMBASE, Google Scholar, LILACS, MEDLINE, PEDro, Web of Science, NDLTD (via Global ETD Search) and OATD were considered from the beginning until May 2022. Results: A total of 1012 records were found, which after the selection process resulted in 3 studies included with a combined sample of 183 postpartum women, isometric contraction and kendel exercises at least 3 times a week. studies show improvement in patients' quality of life. Conclusion: In conclusion, interventions for strengthening are divided into short and long term. Currently, the most used procedures are non-invasive exercises, voluntary isometric contraction and kendel exercises (pelvic floor exercises).
