However, even though i livemore than men and old age has the predominantly female face, old age presents itself in a very particular way for women, because they are surrounded by prejudices, discrimination, exclusion and invisibility, leading them to live in conditions of social vulnerabilities considering social class which are inserted. The objective of this work is to draw an overview about female old age in the Brazilian context. To achieve this goal, we first sought to situate the demographic data surrounding old age and aging in Brazil and Amazonas, later the age prejudices against the elderly person in capitalist society sharpened in the covid-19 pandemic and finally conceptualize the feminization of old age. For this, we have selected the method of investigation of dialectical historical materialism that allowed us to understand the object in its entirety. The methodological procedures adopted were qualitative, bibliographic and documentary research. The discussion in this work leads us to the understanding that old age in Brazil is a stigmatized and devalued category that should be avoided and Brazilian older women, most of whom live in situations of social vulnerability. It was also verified the great influence on gender issues regarding the roles, social, cultural and economic values and standards that strongly reflect on female old age and the omission of feminist movements on the issues of old age and the elderly woman of their theoretical analyses. Keywords: Old age. Gender. Feminism. Feminization A velhice feminina é um fato e uma tendência mundial. No mundo todo existe uma porcentagem maior de mulheres, presente no fato de que mulheres possuem uma expectativa de vida maior do que os homens, evidenciando a chamada feminização da velhice. Contudo, ainda que vivam mais do que os homens e a velhice tenha a face predominantemente do gênero feminino, a velhice se apresenta de uma forma muito particular para as mulheres, pois são cercadas por preconceitos, discriminações, exclusão e invisibilidade, levando-as a viver em condições de vulnerabilidades sociais considerando a classe social a qual estão inseridas. O objetivo deste trabalho centra-se em traçar um panorama acerca da velhice feminina no contexto brasileiro. Para alcançar este objetivo, primeiramente buscou-se situar os dados demográficos que cercam a velhice e o envelhecimento no Brasil e no Amazonas, posteriormente apresentou-se os preconceitos etários contra a pessoa idosa na sociedade capitalista agudizados na pandemia da Covid-19 e por fim conceituamos a feminização da velhice. Para isso elegemos o método de investigação do materialismo histórico dialético que nos permitiu compreender o objeto em sua totalidade. Os procedimentos metodológicos adotados foram a pesquisa qualitativa, bibliográfica e documental. A discussão travada neste trabalho nos leva ao entendimento de que, a velhice no Brasil é uma categoria estigmatizada e desvalorizada a qual deve ser evitada e as mulheres idosas brasileiras, a maioria vive em situações de vulnerabilidade social. Constatou-se, também, a grande influência acerca das questões de gênero quanto aos papéis, aos valores e padrões sociais, culturais e econômicos que refletem fortemente na velhice feminina e a omissão dos movimentos feministas acerca das questões da velhice e da mulher idosa das suas análises teóricas.
