This study is supported by the ethnographic research method, with a qualitative approach. The research provided a closer relationship with the community members, getting to know even more about each one's day-to-day life, finding out their knowledge about plants and how they cultivated plants in their own backyards and how they prepared home remedies. The community trusts a lot in the effectiveness of these home remedies, where any illness immediately runs in search of these plants. And it is of great importance to pass on this knowledge, however, using medicinal plants with conscience. Este trabalho tem por objetivo realizar uma etnografia sobre o uso das plantas medicinais pelas mulheres Kokama da Comunidade de Santo Antônio, no município de Benjamin Constant – AM, visando os relatos orais de nove interlocutoras de como cultivam e de onde e como aprenderam a realizar as práticas de cura através dos remédios caseiros, preparados a partir das plantas medicinais, que auxiliam nas reflexões aqui apresentadas. Este estudo apresenta-se sustentado pelo método de pesquisa etnográfica, com uma abordagem qualitativa. A pesquisa proporcionou um convívio mais aproximado com os comunitários, conhecer mais ainda o dia a dia de cada um, averiguar os conhecimentos sobre as plantas e como eles cultivavam as plantas em seus próprios quintais e como preparavam os remédios caseiros. Os comunitários confiam muito na eficácia desses remédios caseiros, onde quaisquer enfermidades correm logo em buscas dessas plantas.
