The studies on connections for steel structures have been developed in the world of
engineering, since these are important components of the structural system, allowing the
construction of various structural typologies such as trusses, frames, grids, etc. The
connections provide the transmission of forces between the elements of a structure,
ensuring the safety of the structural system. This study aims to analyze common
typologies of beam-column connections in steel structures using BIM methodology,
through the use of modeling and structural design software. The modeling of the
connections was performed in AutoDesk Revit® software version 2022, and the IDEA
StatiCa® software version 2023 was used for dimensioning, where the simulation of loads
and subsequent numerical analyses were carried out on the components of typical
connections. The study also aims to explore and evaluate the interoperability capability
between these software programs, comparing their features for applications in steel
structure projects. A study was also conducted on the influence of some parameters
involved in the behavior of each studied connection, evaluating numerical models. The
results demonstrate a good correlation between the numerical model, analytical model,
and normative procedures. The reports obtained from the analysis of the numerical
models allow the user to efficiently study different typologies, assisting in strength
verifications, stiffness analysis, and consequently, the evaluation of connection behavior.
The computational resources used proved to be efficient individually and collectively,
with a good level of interoperability, optimizing the workflow. |
