Abstract Objective: Evaluate physical performance in women with climacteric symptoms. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out between August 2021 and November 2022 in the municipality of Coari, inland Amazonas. The sample consisted of 184 women with climacteric symptoms, distributed in different stages of menopause (pre, peri and post menopause). The Stage of Reproductive Aging Workshop – STRAW+10, Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) and Short Physical Performance Battery – SPPB were used to classify the stage of menopause and assess cognitive function, climacteric symptoms and physical performance. Qualitative variables were presented using absolute and relative frequency and quantitative variables using mean and standard deviation. Results: The participants had a mean age of 52 ± 6.19 years and there was a prevalence of postmenopausal women in the sample. In the evaluation of physical performance, premenopausal women performed well in the balance and sit-to-stand test and perimenopausal women in the gait speed test. As for the intensity of symptoms, mild symptoms seem to be associated with low/moderate physical performance and severe symptoms seem to negatively influence balance and sit-to-stand tests, but not gait speed. Conclusion: The symptomatology of the climacteric concomitant with the aging process can cause a progressive decline in physical performance, especially in women with greater perception of symptoms. However, the decline in physical performance is more evident in strength and balance parameters than in gait speed.
