Resumo:
This study aimed to report a clinical case of endodontic treatment of a mandibular molar with taurodontism. A female patient, healthy, 34 years old, attended in the dental clinic of the Federal University of Amazonas with the need to perform an endodontic treatment. Clinical examination showed a negative response to palpation and percussion, as well as to the vitality test, indicating pulp necrosis. Intraoral examination revealed a normally shaped crown. After periapical radiography, the tooth was diagnosed with mesotaurodontism with two canals. Endodontic treatment was proposed. Local anesthesia and absolute isolation were performed, followed by access to the pulp chamber with the aid of an operating microscope. The irrigating was sodium hypochlorite 2.5%, and shaping of the canals was performed with the WaveOne Gold system. The final irrigation was performed with alternating EDTA 17% and sodium hypochlorite 2,5% with the passive ultrasonic irrigation technique. The obturation used was Tagger hybrid technique with Bio-C Sealer. The final restoration was performed with composite resin. It is concluded that the endodontic protocol used in this study was sufficient to achieve clinical success in the case. The patient is asymptomatic during the first 6 months of follow-up and with signs of periapical repair.
