Silver nanoparticles, mediated by the use of plant extracts, have been studied with different applications, among which copper nanoparticles with positive allelopathic potential stand out. The present work aimed to carry out the synthesis of copper nanoparticles using the plant extract of Aloe vera (L.) Burm. f., and evaluate its effectiveness in relation to the allelopathic effect on Lactuca sativa lettuce seeds. The copper sulfate II solution was concentrated at 3x10-3 mol/L.-1, two aliquots of 20 ml and 30 ml of extract were removed into 50 ml of copper sulfate II, where for pH 9 the volumes of 20 ml and 30 ml, and for pH 12 volumes of 20 ml and 30 ml were used, and for 21 days, under agitation, spectrum analysis was carried out. A 1% copper nanoparticle solution (T2) was prepared and from this dilutions of 0.1% (T3), 0.01% (T4) and 0.001% (T5) were developed and water was used as controls. (T0), water plus Neem oil (T1) in the proportion (1:1) being emulsified with water. The experiment was carried out in ten days and the variables were evaluated: Percentage of germination (P.G.%) and Average germination time (TMG), where they were subjected to statistical analysis using the SISVAR software. Treatments at concentrations of 1% (T2) and 0.1% (T3) acted directly by reducing the germination percentage (P.G.%) and average germination time (AMR) of Lactuca sativa lettuce seeds. The copper nanoparticles showed allelopathic activity against lettuce seeds, however additional tests must be carried out in order to elucidate the possible mechanisms of action of the nanoparticles and the possibility of conveying them in other formulations.
