Resumo:
The objective of this work was to evaluate the variation in somatic cell counts (SCC) of buffalo herds, in the municipality of Barreirinha and the community of São Francisco do Caramuri/AM, in periods of low rainfall. 40 milk samples were evaluated from July to August 2023, in a randomized design. The study was conducted at the Institute of Social Sciences, Education and Animal Science (ICSEZ) - UFAM, at the Dairy Quality Laboratory (LABLAC). The somatic cell count was determined using electronic counting by Ekomilk Scan infrared spectroscopy, and the mean content, standard deviation and coefficient of variation of the constituents were calculated using descriptive statistics using the Tukey test at 5% of probability. The results obtained presented somatic cell count values in correlation with the quantitative factors analyzed, within what is recommended for good quality milk. More in-depth studies are needed in relation to periods of high precipitation, due to the variation in environmental factors and incidence of pathogens.
