Resumo:
Water is an essential natural resource for the existence of life on the planet, however, inappropriate use and contamination from human activities have reduced access to drinking water. The consumption of drinking water promotes well-being and a better quality of life for the population, and in remote locations, such as rural communities in the Amazon where management of water resources is challenging, and studies aimed at diagnosing, planning and executing actions with this theme can contribute to what is determined in the UN Sustainable Development Goal – SDG 6. Given this scenario, the present study aimed to evaluate the quality of water for human consumption in the rural community Bom Jardim, located in the municipality of Lábrea, Amazonas. An on-site visit to the Bom Jardim community was carried out, followed by mapping of the study area and the selection of 5 (five) semi-artesian wells that serve the community. After this stage, the sampling campaign took place in November 2023, and the following parameters were determined: Thermotolerant Coliforms, Total Coliforms, Apparent Color, Turbidity, Total Iron, Total Manganese, pH, Temperature, Electrical Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids and Dissolved Oxygen. The results of the physicochemical and microbiological parameters were evaluated in accordance with current legislation, Ordinance No. 888/21 of the Ministry of Health. The variations in total solids, total manganese, total iron and turbidity remained within the established limits. On the other hand, the pH of all wells showed values well below the established minimum, and two wells indicated the presence of coliforms, one showing total and thermotolerant coliforms and the other only total coliforms. Through the analyzes carried out in this study, it was observed that the water used in well 1 is unfit for human consumption, as it does not meet the established drinking water standards.
