Resumo:
This study presents the feasibility process, in terms of quality, of changing the resin from polypropylene to polycarbonate in an injected part called a cable gland. SolidWorks software was used as the main tool for developing the 3D design of the part, following its actual geometry and in the simulations carried out. Altering a resin can lead to various changes in the production process, including parameters such as: filling time, injection temperature, injection pressure, gas entrapment and welding lines. The aim of this study was to evaluate the main parameters that influence mold filling with polypropylene and polycarbonate resins, creating possible corrections and solutions for this production process. The formation of weld lines and air balloons in the part, which due to its geometry with two flow fronts meet, show that by changing the resin to polycarbonate it is possible to obtain greater resistance. Therefore, the results obtained for the parameters analyzed reinforce the advantages of the conventional process, making the transition to using polycarbonate raw materials viable.
