Emergency remote teaching in social sciences at UFAM represented the only viable way to continue studies, in times of distancing, but the structure of this teaching model caused several impacts on the lives of academics. Thus, the objective of the research was to verify how the use of communication and information technologies, such the digitals platforms and classroom environments, such as Classroom and Google Meet, has been changing teaching practices in the Bachelor of Science course. UFAM’s Social Studies since the pandemic and what are the main repercussions on the academic system and professional training. To carry out this research, the qualitative and quantitative approach was chosen, as this type of research combines both approaches: qualitative and quantitative. To achieve the objectives, online questionnaires were applied using the Google Forms platform, with the teachers and students of the course. The research showed that Remote Teaching was not well evaluated by students and teachers because, in this period, a calculation of evasion from the course and abandonment of subjects, in addition to the problem of digital exclusion and social inequality, caused many students and teachers not to participate in Remote Teaching, however, our data indicated agreement between professors and students regarding the continuity of the use of ICTs in an academic environment. This study also brings important sociological considerations about the relationship between ICT and education. Este trabalho aborda a temática TICs e educação a partir de uma reflexão sociológica acerca do ensino remoto do curso Ciências Sociais da Universidade Federal do Amazonas. O ensino remoto emergencial nas Ciências Sociais da UFAM representou a única maneira viável de dar continuidade aos estudos em tempos de distanciamento, porém a estrutura desse modelo de ensino ocasionou diversos impactos na vida dos acadêmicos. Com isso, o objetivo da pesquisa foi verificar como o uso das tecnologias de comunicação e informação, tais como as plataformas digitais e os ambientes de sala de aula, como o Classroom e Google Meet, vêm mudando as práticas de ensino no curso de bacharelado em Ciências Sociais da UFAM desde a pandemia e quais são as principais repercussões no sistema acadêmico e na formação profissional. Para realizar a pesquisa, optou-se por a abordagem Quali-quantitativa, pois a pesquisa busca combinar as duas abordagens: qualitativa e quantitativa. Para alcançar os objetivos propostos foram aplicados questionários online utilizando a plataforma Google Forms, com os docentes e discentes do curso. O resultado da pesquisa, mostrou que o ensino remoto não foi avaliado positivamente por discentes e docentes, pois nesse período houve grande evasão do curso e abandono de disciplinas, além disso, o problema da exclusão digital e desigualdade social fez com muitos alunos e professores não participassem do ensino remoto, contudo nossos dados indicaram uma concordância entre docentes e discentes quanto a continuidade da utilização de TICs em ambiente acadêmico.
