The Free Energy Market is based on the premise of consumer freedom to choose their electricity supplier. However, it is essential to delve deeper into this subject to reap its benefits, as being a part of this contracting environment can lead to cost savings for the consumer. This paper covers historical aspects of the Brazilian electrical sector that help understand its current state, as well as elucidates the technical and commercial procedures that facilitate the transition from a regulated contracting environment (ACR) to the free energy contracting environment (ACL). Finally, the main aim of this thesis was to detail the stage related to the adaptation of the Measurement System for Billing (SMF) through a case study of a fictional industry in the city of Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. |
