The current scenario for water transportation of cargo and passengers in the northern region of Brazil is not very different from a decade ago. Despite its ability to transport large amounts of people and cargo, generating lower levels of pollutant emissions and lower costs compared to other means of transport, it lacks infrastructure and efficient management, as it remains mostly managed with informal administrative practices, with no records of the costs incurred for price formation, causing a lack of standardization of passenger water transport fares and resulting in the operator himself being unable to determine whether he incurs a profit or a loss. In this context, this study maps out the different costs that make up the fare charged to waterway passengers on the Manaus - Santarém stretch, highlighting the importance of harmonizing the interests of users in terms of the quality, safety, and supply of transport services, and of service providers in terms of fair remuneration for the services provided. It also proposes a scenario in which the tariff price is readjusted to R$ 200.00, taking the point of view of the shipowner, who seeks to maximize his company's profits, it is simulated the profits for this scenario. The modicum price of the fare is calculated, resulting in R$ 138.17, concluding that the minimum price is already being practiced currently, due to the proximity of the modicum price to the current price charged. |
