Objective: To analyze and review national and international studies targeting physiotherapy for young people with diabetes mellitus. Methods: This is an integrative literature review, in which we sought to analyze national and international studies with the application of physiotherapy aimed at adolescents with diabetes mellitus (DM). The databases used for this study were PubMed, PEDro and Scielo. The collection periods were from January 2024. The descriptors used in English were: Exercise; physiotherapy; adolescent; diabetes mellitus (Portuguese); exercise; Physical Therapy; Adolescent; Diabetes Mellitus (English). The inclusion criteria were: articles related to the application of physiotherapy aimed at adolescents with type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus; controlled and randomized clinical trials; articles in Portuguese and English; in the period of the last 10 years between 2014 and 2024. Results: Studies carried out in theses, monographs and dissertations and case reports were excluded. Initially, 24 articles were found, filtered, leaving only 7 to read in full. After reading in full, the same 7 articles from which were selected in this research remained. Conclusion: There was a positive impact of physiotherapy through physical exercise on adolescents with diabetes mellitus with parameters that varied in terms of time and intensity. |
