Resumo:
This thesis investigates the impact of investments in Research, Development, and Innovation (R&D&I) on the growth of the electronics and information technology sectors within the Manaus Industrial Hub (PIM), from the perspective of Paul Romer's endogenous growth theory. An econometric VAR model is used to analyze the dynamic relationship between R&D&I, revenue, productive investment, and labor over time. The results show that R&D&I investment generates an initial positive impact on the electronics sector's revenue; however, this effect is temporary and stabilizes over longer horizons. The forecast error variance decomposition indicates that, while relevant, R&D&I investment is not the main explanatory factor for variations in revenue, which is predominantly influenced by internal sector dynamics. These findings suggest that, although the Informatics Law has contributed to fostering innovation in the Manaus Free Trade Zone, the sustainable growth of the sector requires an integrated approach that combines R&D&I with structural policies and additional incentives. Future studies with longer time series are recommended to verify the robustness of the observed effects and further explore the long-term potential of innovation investment.
