This paper aims to carry out a historical review of the representation and image of the indigenous people within a historical context that, fueled by the conflict between Jesuits and colonists, crosses the questions of the existence of the indigenous community and how the different spheres of power acted and justified their actions on the natives of the Amazon region during the 18th century. Based on Roger Chartier's concept of representation, the historiographical discussions on the creation of the indigenous image will be presented. |
