It is about a critical search of the academic path to revalue the role of family farming logic of production. These reflections frequently lead us to conclude that the socialenvironmental aspects of family logics can guarantee a consistent basis for a new perception of less destructive relations between society and nature. In other words, new ways of thinking the broad development and the sustainability of worldwide agricultures. KEY WORDS: society and nature, sustainability, family farming. RESUMO: Este ensaio sintetiza uma reflexão teórica preliminar sobre a atual crise do paradigma de desenvolvimento imposto pelo saber acadêmico. Trata-se de uma busca crítica do percurso acadêmico da revalorização das lógicas familiares de produção. As reflexões nos conduzem frequentemente a concluir que o aspecto sócio-ambiental das lógicas familiares pode garantir uma base consistente para uma nova percepção de relações menos destrutiva entre sociedade e natureza. Em outras palavras, novas formas de se pensar o desenvolvimento amplo e a sustentabilidade das agriculturas mundiais. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: sociedade e natureza, sustentabilidade, agriculturas familiares.
