Visando caracterizar as diversas modalidades de Terra Indígena (TI) e discorrer sobre serviços ambientais disponibilizados por terras indígenas com reflexões aplicadas à TI-UEWW, realizou-se pesquisa bibliográfica de caráter exploratório e entrevista com indigenista da Fundação Nacional do Índio (FUNAI). Aplicou-se técnicas de geoprocessamento para verificar o desmatamento até agosto de 2019, dentro da TI e num raio de 20 km de todo o seu entorno, por meio do Programa de Desmatamento (PRODES) digital do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) em função da expressiva ocupação espontânea e por projetos do Instituto Nacional de Colonização e Reforma Agrária (INCRA). Dos diversos serviços ambientais propiciados pelas terras indígenas, destaca-se como um de primeira grandeza a importância da TI-UEWW para os recursos hídricos de Rondônia, pela quantidade de nascentes – alto curso – das cinco maiores bacias hidrográficas do Estado e respectivos mananciais de abastecimento público para diversas cidades rondonienses, porém é muito preocupante a ocupação antrópica nos seus limites e até em algumas porções do seu interior. Urge sensibilizar o governo e a própria sociedade através dos comitês com atuação nestas bacias hidrográficas, sobre a necessidade de um programa que desenvolva tanto ações concretas e frequentes de proteção à integridade da TI, bem como na conscientização dos habitantes do entorno sobre a imprescindível preservação deste espaço para os seus povos indígenas quanto para as diversas demandas dos seus serviços ambientais nesta porção expressiva da Amazônia Ocidental Brasileira. This paper aims to show relevant aspects of the Terra Indígena Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau [Uru-Eu-Wau-Wauindigenous land] (area with 18.671,1780 Km.) in Rondônia. In order to portray the several kinds of Terra Indígena (TI) [Indigenous Land] and discuss environmental services provided by indigenous lands with reflections applied to TIUEWW, an exploratory bibliographic research and an interview with an indigenous protection agent from the Fundação Nacional do Índio (FUNAI) [National Indian Foundation] were carried out. Geoprocessing techniques were applied to verify deforestation until August 2019, within the TI andwithin a radius of 20 km from all its surroundings, through the Digital Programa de Desmatamento (PRODES) [Deforestation Program] of the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) [National Institute for Space Research] in function of the expressive spontaneous occupation and by projects of the Instituto Nacional de Colonização e Reforma Agrária (INCRA) [National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform]. Among several environmental services provided by indigenous lands, the importance of TI-UEWW for the water resources of Rondônia stands out as one of the first magnitude, due to the number of springs - high course - of the five largest hydrographic basins of the State and respective public water sources for many cities in Rondônia, however the anthropic occupation in its limits and even in some parts of its inland is unsettling. It urges to sensitize the government and the society itself through the committees operating in these hydrographic basins, about the need for a program which develops both concrete and frequent actions to protect the integrity of the TI, as well as in the awareness of the surrounding inhabitants about the essential preservation of this system. for its indigenous peoples and for the diverse demands of its environmental services in this expressive portion of the Western Brazilian Amazon.
