The Brazil has a wide variety of stingless bees, and these have an important contribution to
pollination and honey production. In this way the present work has as general objective, to
discuss and divulge the contribution of bees in the pollination process in the development of
açaí trees and in the production of honey from the experience with Meliponiculture in Macapá
in Amapá. And for that, a qualitative research was carried out in research platforms for a
better understanding of the theme, in addition, the work was subsidized by observation and
interview. The results showed that in the region, there is a diversity of pollinators, especially
Apiculture, Apis mellifera (stinging bee) and Meliponiculture: Melipona compressipes, M.
interrupta, M. fulva, M. lateralis and M. paraensis, the studies also point out that the
integrated system of beekeeping in açaí plantation benefits not only the palm trees, but also
the bees, since the pollination process increases the production of açaí and in return the
açaizeiro provides the necessary food for food bees from pollen and nectar supply. Thus, it is
evident the contribution of bees, especially those without sting in the planting of açaí, by
showing its value in the economy, since it increases the availability of açaí fruits and also of
honey for human consumption. |
